How EagleRider Became The 'Disney' Of The Motorcycle Travel Adventure Market
Twenty-five years ago Chris McIntyre walked away from his corporate career, and with just four motorcycles and a Los Angeles garage, set out to create a business that would give people all over the world a chance to experience the freedom of travelling to iconic destinations across the United States.

There are clubs that let people enjoy private jets, luxury homes, and even yachts, all without making a big-ticket purchase. So why not motorcycles? Club EagleRider claims to be the first of its kind in the motorcycle industry. A membership gives access to thousands of motorcycles at multiple locations across North America. The plan is simple: you pay just $29 per month, which gives you a free rental day - but these can be rolled over automatically at no extra charge, so you can skip six months and then take a week for the same price. You also get a free rental on your birthday each year.

EagleRider co-founder Chris McIntyre sounds like a biker. Or maybe a professional wrestler. Read the following McIntyre quote with a Hulk Hogan voice: “Brother, I started when I was 7 years old and jumped on a minibike and crashed straight into my neighbor’s fence,” he says. “Brother, I was hooked.” Hooked, that is, on motorcycles. Who doesn’t have a similar story?

EagleRider was founded by Jeff Brown and Chris McIntyre in 1992, and their first bike rental took place in 1993. The two Midwesterners were on executive tracks at NCR when they met and discovered a mutual passion for two wheels. Chris and Jeff soon realized that there was a real need for motorcycle rentals, and decided to go all in on EagleRider, starting the company with the help of investor Peter Wurmer and a fleet of just four bikes. Their entrepreneurship has paid off, and as the company enters its 25th year of operation, they are riding a wave. Rentals are just a part of the equation at EagleRider. The company excels at conducting guided motorcycle tours, like the one that I participated in. They also design self-guided tours, service and sell used bikes from their fleet and sell branded EagleRider motorcycle apparel and accessories. The latest adventure for the company is Club EagleRider, a new subscription model for motorcycle rental. For $29 per month, each Club EagleRider member is entitled to one free motorcycle rental day per month, plus a free rental day on their birthday. Additional rental days are $39 per day. Club members also receive discounts on EagleRider tours, along with many other benefits. It’s a very good deal and promotes the company’s vision of itself as an experience company, not just a motorcycle rental company.

I have always been skeptical about buying rental bikes. You assume they have had the crap beat out of them by people who don't have their own bikes back home or know how to treat them properly. And if they do know how to treat them properly, you assume they're not babying thething through those miles, as they won't be the ones suffering the repercussions later on. Well if you've got your eyes on one of EagleRider's rental bikes, you can rest easy. They have just announced the most absurdly complete warranty I have ever heard of.

Las Vegas is a great vacation destination, but most people concentrate on the slots, the shows, the cheap buffets, and not much else. That’s too bad, because there’s a lot to see in the country around Las Vegas, and no better way to see it than from the saddle of a motorcycle. EagleRider, a nationwide leader in motorcycle rentals and tourism, opened its newest location in Las Vegas on October 8, so now you can get out of the neon and into the sunshine for some real fun.
