Alpes y Dolomitas - Tour en Moto por Italia

We leave Ortisei and travel to Val Venosta, a mountain region surrounded by impressive peaks, dense forests, wide side valleys and a massive valley bed in south Tyrol. A place not to be missed here is Lake Resia: the lake is famous for the steeple of a submerged 14th-century church. Numerous legends swirl around the flooding and the steeple. In colloquial speech sometimes you can still hear the bells ring from the depth! The Venosta Valley is a sun blessed mountain region surrounded by impressive peaks, dense forests, wide side valleys and a massive valley bed. Then we head to Livigno where we overnight.

Another beautiful and exciting riding day: we go up to Forcola di Livigno and then we ride the Bernina Pass, a high mountain pass in the Bernina Range of the Alps in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) -eastern Switzerland- then the Maloja Pass, another Swiss mountain pass which high point is at even 1815 mt (5955 ft). We finally ride to the beautiful Como Lake for the overnight.

We ride along the lake coast of Como Lake enjoying the magnificent villas and small villages. Also known as Lario, Como Lake is the third largest of the Italian lakes and with a maximum depth of approx. 410 mt Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe. Its characteristic shape, reminiscent of an inverted Y, results from the melting of glaciers combined with the erosive action of the ancient Adda river. Head to Milan where we overnight.

Day Free in Milan. Enjoy the Lombard capital of Fashion, design and taste: classic and modern architecture in a true capital of style.

As we leave Milan behind us, we start heading north-west to the south-west shore of Lake Maggiore where we stop in one of the villages on the lake. Lake Maggiore is between the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy and the Swiss canton of Ticino. Beautiful villas, imposing fortresses and castles are located around the lake and its islands. Back on the road we cross a hill section that buffers between the flat land and the Alps to make our way towards the city of Aosta, our stop for dinner and the night.

Departure from Aosta for a ride that includes a series of marvelous Alpine passes approaching 3000 mt, thrilling driving sensations along these winding roads that climb through splendid landscapes dotted with countless peaks. Riding the Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo, Col de l'Iseran, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier and Col du Lautaret and reach Les Deux Alpes, a renowned summer and winter ski resort where we overnight.

Today's ride includes a change of landscapes, after a first stretch that is still a little tortuous, we look out over the Provence region with its typical villages and lavender fields, we reach Lake Saint Croix with its intense blue color and enter into the famous Gorges du Verdon, well known for free climbing and whose roads are very popular for all motorcyclists. Overnight in a traditional hotel in La Palud sur Verdon.

We complete the route of the "Route des Cretes" which overlooks the wonderful Verdon canyon. We will make a stop in Castellane with its picturesque church located on the cliff overlooking the village, before taking the Route de Napoleon, the road that Napoleon traveled on returning from his exile, this is pleasant for a motorcycle riding. We head to the village of Grasse, the world’s perfume capital situated north of the French Riviera. Overnight in Grasse.

Today we leave Grasse and start to climb the Alps and return to Italy by crossing the Col della Lombarda Pass, a wonderful road with magnificent views that will take us to Piemonte region towards Langhe, a historical area considered one of the most captivating winemaking areas in Italy. The name "Langhe" is the plural form of langa, which means a long hill. You will be riding through the gentle Langhe hills and the vineyards of Barolo, Barbaresco and Nebbiolo. Overnight in Langhe region

We leave the hills of Piemonte region crossing the vineyards and beautiful roads of the hilly region of Monferrato and then head to Lomellina in the Po Valley of northern Italy, located in south-western Lombardy region. The area is particularly renowned for the rice that goes back to the ancient ages. Cultivation began in Milan in 1475 and it is said to have been introduced by Galeazzo Maria Sforza, who was the fifth Duke of Milan. Farewell dinner at the restaurant of EagleRider location. Overnight in Treviglio
