As motorcycle riders, we know it’s hardly ever about the destination, it’s about the ride. But what happens if the ride you want to enjoy is on the other side of the country, and you only have a limited amount of vacation time?
Sturgis Black Hills Rally is one of the largest pop-up biker parties in the world and is one of the longest-running rallies ever. With so many exciting things taking place at the event, we have put together a list of the top 5 things to experience while you’re there! Whether you are a motorcycle enthusiast or a rally-goer, Sturgis Rally itself has something to offer for everyone.
Buffalo Chip Contests
First on our list is the Buffalo Chip Contests. If you have any hidden talents or just enjoy free beer and good laughs, then the Buffalo Chip Contests are for you. For our Sturgis girls, homemade bikini contests are hosted. Get your girlfriends together for this unique challenge and shoot your shot at winning a little prize money. For our biker babes over the age of 35, strut your stuff at the Sassy and Classy Model Search. Winners of the model search take home top shelf passes, a Sassy and Classy trophy, and a Buffalo Chip Prize pack. Lastly, for our ladies who just want to have an overall good time, you can enjoy singing, dancing, and partying at the karaoke stage.
For the men of Sturgis, come show off those beer bellies at the Buffalo Chip Beer Belly competition. This is a light-hearted and hilarious memory to share with your crew. For our beard and mustache fanatics, come see how your facial hair compares to your buddies at the Beard and Mustache Contest. Categories include papa beard, baby beard, beer soakin' mustache, and more. Other contests such as slip 'n' slide relays, pie-eating competitions, and rope swing contests take place for all genders to enjoy.
Music & Entertainment
For our music lovers, Sturgis Concerts let you party all night. Live concerts are hosted every year at the Rally. You can catch regional acts like ZZ Top and Kid Rock at the Buffalo Chip Campgrounds, to local bands at Full Throttle Saloon. Sturgis provides a blend of genres; from nostalgic 70s and 80s classic rock to country music to full-blown rock and roll experiences. Concerts are hosted every day at the rally and are high on our "must-do" list when attending the event. Click here to see a full list of concerts going on throughout the 81st Sturgis Rally.
Main Street
Next on our list is Main Street Sturgis. This is a great place to explore unique custom bikes, clothing vendors, and restaurants. The iconic Dungeon Bar is located at the heart of Main Street, which is one of the oldest biker bars in Sturgis. Stop by to grab a cold drink and check out the exquisite décor. The Knuckle Saloon is another great pit-stop. Enjoy this antique motorcycle museum while treating yourself to some wings and beer, what more could you possibly ask for?
Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame
The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame celebrates and honors a variety of bikes and riders dating back to 1907. Showcasing over 100 vintage motorcycles, this organization is dedicated to preserving the history and lifestyle of motorcyclists. You can find numerous videos, books, and photographs on display at the exhibit. This is an inspiring and illuminating "must-do" when attending the 81st Annual Sturgis Rally!
Olympic Sized Pool – Full Throttle Saloon
With Sturgis Rally held during the Summertime, it can get a little toasty! We recommend the Olympic-sized pool at Full Throttle Saloon to cool down and have some fun. Enjoy upbeat music, pool-side games, and bikini contests while recharging your riding muscles. Full Throttle Saloon will also be hosting concerts for Sturgis Rally 2021, so you can stay and play all day and night.
Full Throttle Saloon is one of the largest Biker Bars in the world, housed in a 26,000 square foot building. If you need a break from the pool party scene, the bar is filled with motorcycle memorabilia, vintage décor, and dinner buffets.
So, no matter what your cup of tea, or in this case, beer is, Sturgis has a little bit of something for everyone. We highly recommend exploring as much as possible as there is never any shortage of events or places and sights to see during this iconic motorcycle rally. So saddle up and hit the road to the 81st Annual Sturgis Rally with these helpful hotspots in mind.
