Blue Ridge Parkway Moto-Tour - Atlanta à Washington D.C.

Welcome to Atlanta and take the night to explore the city or get some rest as you have an amazing day of riding some of the best roads in the Appalachian Mountains tomorrow.

After you pickup your bikes this morning you'll take a short ride over to Helen, GA. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, this Northeast Georgia village has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and Indian burial mounds as well as early settlers who arrived to mine for gold and cut virgin timber for a thriving lumber industry in the early 1900s. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. They have got shopping, camping, both rustic and luxury mountain cabins, restaurants, bed and breakfast inns, mountains, theater, recreation, romantic getaways, beautiful scenery, family activities, waterfalls, museums, history, art, fishing, tubing, golf, and more. Something for every member of the family. Festivals and special events include a hot air balloon race, Winefest, Volksmarch, Oktoberfest and Christmas parades, Fourth of July fireworks, and Bavarian Nights of Summer. From mid-September through October, Helen hosts the longest Oktoberfest in the South. You'll then travel up to ride the Dragons Tail (318 turns in 11 miles). After you ride the Dragon travel through the Great Smoky Mountains over to Cherokee, NC to explore thre Cherokee Indian reservation. Stop by the The Museum of the Cherokee Indian “A Model for Museums.” and like the Cherokee people themselves, it’s entirely unique. Finally finish the days ride in beautiful Asheville NC to soak up the night life of the Smokys.

The ride from Ashville to Bristol will be short so that you can take the day to explore the area and possibly catch some racing at the "World's Fastest Half Mile Track" Bristol Motor Speedway. Historic downtown Bristol and the area is rich with history dating back to pre-revoluntionary war times and attractions like Tales and Trails and Rocky Mount to help bring that history to life. The first country music recordings earned Bristol the title of Birthplace of Country Music. The tradition continues with great live performances throughout the year including Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, and music venues in our historic downtown.

Enjoy the day layed back on your motorcycle riding the Blue Ridge Parkway over to Lynchburg, VA. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic highway that connects Shenandoah National Park and the Skyline Drive in Virginia, with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee. The majority of the Parkway in Virginia runs through the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests and into North Carolina along mountain crests. End the day in the historical city of Lynchburg VA. You can go hang glide with the birds or enjoy a mid trip spa treatment. What ever you would like to do can be found in Lynchburg VA

After a few hour ride from Lynchburg VA, what would be better than playing in the sand on Virgina Beach. Like the sand and surf, visitors from all over the world are drawn to the shores of Virginia Beach in search of adventure. Whether it's our local coastal cuisine, enriching outdoor attractions, bustling nightlife or beautiful beaches, living the life will never be lost in translation.

After an amazing day on the sand go spoil yourself in Cambridge, MD. This authentic, historic waterfront community, rich in colonial heritage and maritime traditions, celebrates its 330th Anniversary in 2014.Cambridge features a brick paved street for strolling through the historic district to parks, marina, museums, and a lighthouse on the water. The downtown has a variety of unique boutiques, galleries, entertainment venues and studios in the shopping and arts districts. Fabulous dining ranges from casual Chesapeake Bay, Italian, Irish, and French cuisine to a wood fired eatery. The waterfront cafes are perfect on a sunny day or at sunset. Enjoy a casual and unhurried pace, warm hospitality and scenic vistas along the banks of the Choptank River.

The last day of the trip will end at Washington DC. Make a day of exploring the national monuments before taking your bike back in and heading to your hotel for the last night.
